What exactly is Foundation Level?

Listed below are the Official UK Guidelines for Foundation Level, Ages 3 to 5 years.
. Personal, social and emotional development
. Communication, language and literacy
. Mathematical development
. Knowledge and understanding of the world
. Creative development
MaxiSteps is being designed in accordance with UK/USA educational guidelines, however to avoid unnecessary pressure placed on the Special Needs learner our foundation level will be known as "Level Earth".

Communication
As young children why do we need to practice pages and pages of straight lines, curves, circles, blobs, finger painting etc.? Well, they are fundamental steps to master fine motor control, leading to a major form of communication "writing". Fortunately we can learn these techniques by playing and having fun. If you think back to when you were at foundation level, remember yes! or was that a no!, it was all play ... you were not even thinking about learning.
However, for some Special Needs children even these basic steps require a huge amount of effort and repetition, repetition and repetition. My creative work is focusing to maximise the fun side, so after going that extra mile, the learning is still a form of play.
